Sooo, Guildwars goes live tomorrow!!

How many people do we have that have already preordered or will be getting it soon? (Just to get an idea of how many members we'd have really)
Maybe it would be good to get ourselves a forum setup if there's a few of us? :)

They tell me it's pretty good (and by "they," I mean "the Belgian kid genius who knows an absolutely absurd amount about video cards). And he hasn't been wrong about a game being excellent before, soooo... I should check it out. Probably once I'm done with finals.

Tried it briefly before heading to the office this morning, went with a ranger.

Will post a name when I create my "final" character :)

How does PvP work, do I have to WANT to play PvP or am I gonna get ganked?

Theres special tournament places that you can goto especially for pvp, so its a matter of choice really. Not sure if they've added or changed any of that though.

-My copy has just arrived now, 2 days from the US. Not bad shipping.

certainly reads quite well from the gamespot...which is a little more than the actual site :weird:

the idea of buying upgrades rather than subscription is also a little interesting...if they maintain balance it should open the door for more people playing the game..be a bugger for the new upgrades to give super abilities/skills/items that someone cant even see without the purchase.

:( its all so hard..

(also it looks quite pretty...not the best word i know, but it does)

Good to know.

It's interesting. Very pretty, reminds me a bit of Dungeon Siege.

Will need to read up on some character classes. I have REALLY enjoyed magic classes in Final Fantasy, but I always had a soft spot for the Archery classes.

Ranger seeems to be able to charm pets, another thing I really enjoy in Final Fantasy, so that might be my final choice after all.

how many characters can you have?

Also, can I install it on more than one machine? So long as I only play on one at a time? My laptop seems to meet the min spec, and I like playing while travelling.

Not exactly sure what the max amount of characters you can have is, but the most i've ever personally had was 3.

You can make up to 4 seperate chars.
PvP areas aren't part of the normal 'game' areas, they are seperate tournement areas that you have to 'enter' first.

Would have posted sooner but have mostly been in bed or at school... thx to finals week and a botched root canel that is mad infected. Vicoden + Antibotics FTW.....

Can only play in spirts right now then sleep... its a ruff cycle... get to see the dentist again tommorrow morning hopefully something will come of it.

Oh chars,
Preorder people get to keep there char names so all of mine are Andakt right now (Andakt En, Andakt Et, En Andakt, Andakt Fem).

Will prob make a Padishar something later but going with what I already have premade for now. Yes it starts us back at lvl one without equipment (other then the preorder bonus gift) to be fair

I got my copy tuesday but i didn't pre-order :D, but damn, couldn't play til thursday, which really sucked lol
now that its lve, im liking it, been waiting for a free MMORPG.

Also come to think of it, I save money by playing MMORPGs, instead of keep buying PS2 or PC games every month or so, it saves me from buying other games. Now that Guild Wars is free even better :D

Don't judge a book by its cover. Never know what the game is like if ya never try it and see. :p

I have the same feelings about EA Scorpius, but even then if a subsidiary company under them makes a must have game, I will still look into it b4 discounting it (tho it will still have a strike against it cuz I hate EA).

In this case, it is ArenaNet, whom hasn't let me down yet and the game is GREAT:
ArenaNet, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCsoft Corporation, was founded by key members of the creative teams that developed the hit games Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, as well as the Battle.net gaming network. ArenaNet will create a state-of-the-art, interactive game network and will design and publish premier multiplayer online games for a wide range of game players
