Your combat pic greatly shows what I was talking about
(still not fully, as you are not 100% facing your shadow to show off that it gets even brighter).
The black border and shape makes the cape look almost like a low polygon foreign object attacking the char
The blue gets even lighter (cheese) in some cercumstances, but blends with the black in the darker regions. So avoid the light at all costs FTW hehe
