Just having a bit of hassle setting up Trillian to access IRC, have entered the server (mgo.maxgaming.net) and I think i have set the right port (7778) but can't seem to connect, wondering if any other trillian users could point me in right direction...

This is a work computer using windows firewall, and i've opened up the correct ports...

not 100% if the ident server thingy needs to be configured/switched on..

I don't know what this thread is about exactly, but the title says Trillian, so I will share my thoughts on the general subject.

Try irc.maxgaming.net and 6667 or 7778.

They may be blocking the ports at work though.

ICQ and AIM sometimes automagically configure themselves to go out alternate ports (such as 80).

IRC is very port specific.

NF, There is a quick test to see if the issue is Trillian or not. Download mIRC or X-Chat and see if you can connect after setting it up. If you can't use one of those, then the problem isn't Trillian. However if you can connect, then problem is a settings issue with Trillian. If so, I will post my screenies of my setup.

Trillian blows for IRC, but Basic 3.0 has been perfect for me for everything else.

(Why would you use Trillian for IRC anyway? IRC is not a form of IM in any meaningful way, so... use an IRC client, doofus)

Oh BTW, several of the Trillian people here including myself use the old, better (in my opinion) 0.74i, not 3.1. I got 3.0 and it was just awful and took up about three times the resources.
