I was wondering if there are peeps around here that use last.fm?

For those who dont know...last.fm is an online music profile, it keeps track of the music you listen, creates charts, and recommands new bands/artists... an awesome way to explore and experiment with your taste.

This is my page http://www.last.fm/user/SSX-Ruhn/ . Let me know what you think about it..and try it!

:)

I've seen last.fm listed in google searches when i've been looking for music stuff before but i've never used it myself.
Do you know if it can be used along with iTunes, Ruhn? I may consider trying it if so. :)

Got a profile setup now too. http://www.last.fm/user/SSX-MS/
I'll install the software later this aft when i'm back at my PC.

You seem to have quite a few bands/artists on your charts page that i'm a fan of Ruhn, though a lot that i've never heard of too. Might have to check some of those out at some point. :)

Yep Aerosmith, Maiden, Led Zep, Metallica, Nirvana, Van Halen, Megadeth... just to name a few that i spotted on your list Ruhn. (My fav Aerosmith song would have to be Dream On ;)). I tend to listen to more Rock than anything nowadays though.
There's some music i like on Ed's list well actually, The Beatles (<3), AC/DC, Queen and Lynyrd Skynyrd. ^^

Got it installed now too. :thumb:
Decided to start mine from scratch rather than import my iTunes history as it wasn't that long ago that i reset my play counts anyway.

Turned it off whilst i was seeing what things did, it should be enabled again now lol.
I shall go searching for some Helloween & Gamma Ray later and see what i think. ;)

I love the recommendations feature it has for similar artists, that's gonna be handy i'm sure. I've used amazon in the past for stuff like that but it's not always that good hehe.

When i looked at my profile a couple of hours ago my "Recently Listened Tracks" (of what i had listened to 11-12hrs earlier) was empty, not sure why. I could still view recent tracks in my charts section.
I had a look in the faq but didn't notice anything which explained why, i did leave the last.fm software running idle on my pc whilst i slept though if that confused it maybe? Any ideas Ruhn?
The recently listened tracks part has filled up again now with the tracks i've listened to this afternoon anyway, i'll see if they disappear again tomorrow when i've slept hehe.

I had a listen to a few Helloween tracks on YouTube this afternoon, they sounded pretty good!. Reminded me of Stratovarius a little bit.
I've yet to listen to any of Gamma Ray's stuff but i'll try get an album or two of Helloween's before the end of the week and see what those are like. If i like em i can always get some more and if i start with just 1 or 2 i can appreciate them more! ^^ (Maybe the two that Ash mentioned)
Cheers for the recommendations mate. :thumb:

The two I mentioned were my first taste of Helloween,
and to be fair I lost track of the band after them.
But both those albums I rebought on CD when I switched away from vinyl.

Apologies for bumping this thread but thought i would make a post about this since it's a pretty huge. Current last.fm members may already have seen this but for the ones that haven't, and anyone else..

http://blog.last.fm/2008/01/23/free-the-music

May be of interest for any of you that are in a band or make your own music too. ;)
