Fencing Tournament

Still waiting for the scores to show up online, but I wanted to share my video from my first tourney.

I lost all but one of the pool bouts, and I probably should not have won that one, my opponent had 2 weapon malfunctions and lost a point (it ended 5-4 in my favor). I got better as the pools progressed, and managed to place 12th out of 15. My goal on entering the tournament was not to be last

What does DE mean btw? (IRC does not seem to be workin for me today)

Direct Elimination.

The pools establish the order of the fencers, then the DE's are set up so that the worst fences the best, matching the next worst to the next best, etc. Pools are like qualifying laps in racing.

The DE rounds then establish the final placement and medals for the tourney.

Fencing is a sport I have always enjoyed watching. For many a year I really wanted to learn and participate in fencing but I never had the earth monies to try it.
