He suffered for years from health problems. I think it was an old fashioned miscibility problem.

The man had six kids. Clearly, he was far less of a geek than most of his adherents.

Con or no, he helped to open the doors of creativity and imagination for many of us in some very fantastic ways.

Thanks, Gary. Long live your legacy. Sleep well, my friend.

Aw, that sorta sucks, grew up with the game (literally, I'm old, still got my original AD&D DM Guide, MM, Player Handbook, buried somewhere and held together with tons of tape from massive overuse).

I still have my original Orange Book, (C) 1980 with my name scrawled in the inside cover...

Very sad, I re-read "Keep on the Borderlands" last night.

Thanks BD, now I feel guilty for laughing ;)

Seriously though, this is a great shame. I may never have been particularly into D&D, but the guy as good as spawned a genre. Here's to him, hope he rests in peace.
"Perhaps this is what I have always wished for since that day. The loss and destruction of all. That's right, one must destroy before creating. In that case, if my conscience becomes a hindrance to me, then I will simply erase it. I have no other choice but to move forward....therefore!" - Lelouch vi Britannia/Zero, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch
