The issue of storage and longevity is why I never pay for digital media; whether it be games, music, software, or anything else. If I'm paying money for something, I prefer to have a tangible, physical object that is there whenever I need it.

Well, I guess if you already have the downloaded version, it would be best to make a back-up on CD-R. But then you have the extra cost of the CD-R, which isn't really the best quality CD or case. I'd rather just get the actual product with the better quality packaging, paper manual/notes, etc. for what is most likely the same price.

If you're not holding a pack of 10 DVD's next to your computer at all times, you should go to jail.

CD-R or DVD-R, the same argument of packaging quality and documentation still stands. I am more involved with music than games or software, so CD popped into my head first. And yes, I do have packs of both CDs and DVDs right here next to my computer. Please do not shoot me.

Burning is fine and dandy but what about this line from the article:
Electronic Arts claims that, since the downloaded files can't be backed up to a CD or DVD, they can be repeatedly downloaded, which is true until the six-month marker has passed.
That means that people are boned when buying EA games and such.

As for physical copies, most of my boxes, packaging and liner notes get discarded anyways

hmmmm, I usually buy physical copies.... though could you explain to me what this physical copy keeping means. I lose soooooooooo many of them. hehe But I do have DvD's ready to burn at any time.
