Good spot, yep. They're all from Lion's Arch :)
The day and night shots were taken on Claw Island overlooking the Sanctum Harbor and the waterfall one is over near the Lion's Shadow Inn waypoint.

They've done a really good job with the city designs I must say. I was always a fan of places like Ironforge and Stormwind in WoW but at least in vanilla WoW they never really felt like capital cities due to their small size and certain sections were a little lifeless. Then you see places like Divinity's Reach and they're extremely impressive tbh. Massive scale and yet none of it feels like pointless space and still bursting with life at every turn.
Maybe I'll try to take one of Divinity's Reach actually as it's hard to really capture the sheer epicness of that place with a single shot.

Tip for screenies btw. You'll have noticed that there isn't a first person camera view in GW2 so every screenshot you take would normally include your character model too, besides taking screenies during the "vista" views that is. This is alright most of the time as it's nice to be able to document places on your travels through the world and story but I really enjoy taking scenic shots in games too so this isn't always helpful.
You can however type "/sleep" which will lay your character down on the ground which is sometimes enough to get your character out of the shot if you move the camera up a bit ;)

If I take some more pics like those I'll post em up :thumb:

Here's another 3 I've taken. I'll try not to post too many more so as not to annoy or spam heh :)

Divinity's Reach. Huge city and these only show a very small portion of it. There's like 4 other districts and the entire city of Stormwind would probably fit in just one or two of em.

The environments in this game can be absolutely beautiful at times. Exciting to think that there's still over half of the world I haven't fully explored yet or even stepped into :D

A huge ass dragon spawns on this map too. Gonna attempt to get a panorama of him too though it may be tricky heh, think he should respawn in a few hours!
[Edit: Couldn't get one as big as the ones above but managed this one below and there are some standard 1080 screenies on my page as well. Such an awesome event, wow]

Not sure how much exploring you've done over in the Norn areas, but in Snowden Drifts, if you keep an eye open in the skys you'll see a dragon fly through every once in a while. I only knew about it because I saw the shadow on the ground and looked up to catch it flying through before it disappeared. Was a very 'wft that's cool' moment.

Finally back from California, I've been playing it in my off hours. I will say that it plays a lot smoother than SWTOR on my computer. Its been quite entertaining thus far; the first dungeon I did was a bloodbath but still quite fun!

Oh yeah. TOR couldn't even handle Ilum unfortunately, all systems would start crawling no matter how good they were. Many of the big dynamic events in GW2 have just as many people running around and it handles them just fine, WvW too which has even more characters on screen.
For awesome events like the dragon above on the other hand you'd still be best upgrading if TOR didn't run that smooth for you in general though. When I was stood right below it with the ton of other players that were there my fps dropped to between 10-15. Still playable for me but I can't imagine it going well for systems much lower than mine (i7-930, 6GB Corsair XMS3, Radeon HD 6970) :)

btw I saw this tip on reddit earlier. Atm it is rather annoying when buying high level equipment off the trade post as there's no way to preview what it actually looks like. ANet are already working to implement this but for the time being if you want to preview a dye, weapon or whatever you fancy try this:

1. Look for the item you want to preview here: gw2spidy
2. Get the item ID from the URL, for example: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/31092
3. Paste the ID (31092) here: http://streamchan.com/gw2id.html
4. Paste the resulting code ( [&AgF0eQAA] ) in the chat box ingame and right click to preview it on your character

Very handy! :)

I'll be sure to take some more when I continue my exploration!. I've not done much recently as most of my time has been spent in WvW and the Frostgorge Sound map above hehe.

Here's a pic of my character in his current gear though. Not as flashy as some of the dungeon sets but I like it all the same:
Image
This is (coat, pants & shoulders so far) the light karma set I've been working towards from the God Temples in Orr. The dyes I'm using are Midnight Ice (darkest blue in the game) and Celestial (brightest white). Love em.

Ran the lvl 30 story dungeon last night with some mates. It's a lvl 30 dungeon that's meant for 5 people. We took in 4 with lots of pets. We didn't finish the dungeon after 2 hours but spent something like 10-15 silver in repairs and the few chests that dropped from the named bosses were pretty pathetic. Really curious as to how this is meant for 5 people as even if we had a 5th person it still seems like we would have been struggling.

Anyone else ran any of the dungeons and have similar/different stories?

Yeah I had a similar experience running the first dungeon. We had a level 74 and level 48 (downleveled for the dungeon) and we still struggled for the first half of it; primarily on the trash mobs. Post-mortem, I think its because we weren't really using any CC or snare abilities and we certainly weren't drawing off agro for each other.

Will be nice to see ya ;)

I haven't been playing very much at all just recently what with Borderlands 2 releasing too, as I mentioned on IRC last night. Other game releases have just started ramping up so I'm having to split my time between all of these new releases on top of my anime, tv shows, guitar, GW2 etc. Release schedule is quite hectic actually hehe:

Next friday is Dishonored. Everything else will get put to the side whilst I'm playing this. The main game of 2012 I've been waiting for xD
the friday after that is Rocksmith, finally releasing on PC in EU
(around this time episode 4 of The Walking Dead series from Telltale should be out and the 5th and final episode approx 3-4 weeks after that)
4 weeks after Rocksmith is Hitman Absolution
3 days after Hitman is Assassin's Creed 3
aaaaand 1 week after AC3 is Far Cry 3

^This covers the next 8 weeks (EU dates) bringing us to the beginning of December. Very busy as you can see lol.

So yeah heh, I expect to be playing GW2 extremely casually now at least until mid-late December, leaving room for actually playing them too since Hitman/AC3/FC3 all release within days of each other and I'll have to wait until I've finished 1 before I start the next. Add me to your friends list though Fire (my char name is "Waldsteiner"). I'll still be playing, just not nearly as much as I have been doing whilst I'm juggling all of these other titles as well. I'll make sure to add you to my friends list when I next login too! :thumb:

How are you finding the game btw? Fantastic eh? :D

dont worry. i am very busy with work and just find time
to play a few days, and then again long times without
beeing able to log on.

yes, i would be happy to add you to my friend list and
we may find some time to explore.

so far i like GW 2 very very much. at least the leveling
is very suitable for my preferred playing style of soloing
and just exploring the world.

but i havent yet played PvP or WvW. but i assume they
are also big fun. a bit worried what happens once i finish
the main story line and reach lvl 80. but that is still a long
way to go.

Not played any sPvP myself as I got a bit burned out from that sort of PvP with TOR tbh but WvW is a lot of fun. My character is already level 80 but there's plenty of content left for me to see so I wouldn't worry too much. I haven't completed 50% of the world yet for example and still have a way to go with my personal storyline :)

i have not yet done any dungeons (i think ascalon catacombs is the first one).
they seem partially connected to your personal story line. i hope i can still do
all the instances in story mode even if i get lvl 80.

Yes you can do all the dungeon story modes even at 80.
The link is through your Race connection to the Hero group Destinys Edge. (i.e. Eir for Norn, Rytlock for Charr etc etc)

You can still take part in the explorable parts of the dungeon even without doing the relevant story mode,
by not being the dungeon initiator you therefore just join your party.
