It's named "SSX_PUBLIC", without the quotes.

Anyone can join us in there, and for new players or the unfamiliar: Click on the "Channels and Mailing Lists" tab on the left-hand side of the game screen, click on the "Join" button at the bottom of the window that pops open, and type in that name (don't forget the underscore '_'). Makes it easier to get a hold of someone online

The channel name is still the same, however the Dominion Expansion changed how to open the Channels list. If you look to the top right of the chat window, there is a dialog balloon box. Click on that box and the Channels and Mailing List window will open, then follow directions above.
