This was what I feared before coming to uni
Turns out that my halls of residence up in Dundee haven't got broadband installed. And very little in terms of internet - Unless you consider two phone plugs in one room in a flat of eight as a decent connection
I'm trying to see what I can do, but it looks like I won't be in NC2 until I come back home for Christmas. As a result, I'm relieving myself of in-game duty until I can get a decent connection back I'll still be on forum duty though - I've got internet access at UAD's library (Quiz can check that if he really wants to ) and might be able to get a wireless hub going on those phone lines in the flat - But a 56k connection split between eight makes it look good enough for forums & browsing only
Anyway, I should be back home around 17-20th December for three weeks. Until then, I'm sniffing around for unsecure wireless networks in the area around my halls
Off-Duty until Christmas

Hope everything's going well for you at Uni, Blue. Despite the lack of broadband

We had that problem last year in halls - Each room had a socket - so we had it slightly easier - but we were able to get BT to install an ADSL line and got a one meg between six peeps - came out to be a tenner a month each, so not too bad.
Hope uni is going well.

You ever had one of those times when you thought "there is a god"? Well then this time, I could almost become religious (note I said almost :P)
Some of the guys in my course and in my halls can be crafty when they want to. For example, the sneaky little gits in one of the other flats has managed to get access to internet into their rooms. How - Getting their own broadband line installed.
I'm looking in getting the same done in my flat - About 4-5 including me are interested, which means we could effectively get a 1mbps line for 8 a month It'd take a couple of weeks though to organise and get installed (the line as well as the likely wireless network).
If that's up though, I should be able to upgrade to NC2 and get back into the game again In the meantime, if anyone knows any decent broadband ISPs that have minimum contracts shorter than six months (or even none at all ), I'd love to hear about them
