One of the more important aspects of Red Faction 3 is using the right weapons for the right situations. Not every situation calls for a Rocket Launcher or Remote Detonator. Sometimes a simple whack of a hammer can go a long ways.

For Example:

When trying to take down buildings, sometimes efficiency overrides expedience. Yeah the EDF is breathing down your neck, but rushing through a building demolition is only gonna get you killed that much faster. Keep in mind, the hammer is an EXTREMELY useful ammo saver and demolishing tool. You can really tear apart a building with this thing. When a building is weak enough from your hammer, then you wanna start placing charges to bring it the rest of the way down. This way you use less charges, and you get to blow up more stuff.

Another useful tool you will get access too when you hit the Badlands is the Nanomachine Rifle. Save up 700 scrap for that bad boy. It is a great weapon all around. When you upgrade it fully, it will be a force to be reckoned with. It basically disintegrates a given area or target. And it leaves the scrap behind. This is a great door opener or turret killer, or anything killer. But be warned, even with the ammo upgraded, it doesn't have a whole lot. But its enough to have a lot of fun with. :)

The Arc Welder has plenty of practical uses. It is an electricity based weapon and it does things you would expect electricity to do. Say, all those guys are standing on a metal surface. Why don't ya shoot the metal surface instead of them, and see what happens? :) Also, if you need to steal a vehicle, like those in the various convoy missions, the Arc Welder kills anyone inside a vehicle so you can push the dead carcasses out of the way and drive on. (Remember one of the adverts in the Robocop movies?)

Keep in mind that the weapons don't always have a straightforward use for them. :)

Singularity Bomb: Don't do what I did, think it was a mine because I'd picked it up and deployed it without reading the handbook. I stood around looking at it, then approached it thinking maybe it was a proximity mine (just to see what it did!), only to be thoroughly obliterated.

Heavy trucks are good weapons - they'll plough through defenses and buildings, but they can be made better! Put two remote charges on the hood, two on the tail, get in and drive as fast as you can towards the enemy base/structure. Jump out and watch the truck's momentum carry it through a building or two, before you fire the charges and bring down the rest of the building it's buried in.

That nano-rifle is very handy: four well placed shots and that guard-tower is gone.

lol @ the singularity bomb, esd. It's a shame you can't permanently store those in the SP (afaik), much fun.

I do really like the demolitions master minigames for this stuff, there are so many ways of destroying a structure quickly & efficiently that i certainly wouldn't have thought to try before hand. A lot of the time i've been guilty of rushing in with just my hammer, still do sometimes heh.
There's a huge building you have to bring down in Eos for this. Problem is it has some indestructable pillars holding it up so you have to find other ways of bringing the majority of it down as quick as possible. That's one of my favourites so far and the nano-rifle plays a big part in that one. I've completed it, but i want to beat the pro-time (only got 2 left to beat the pro times for iirc, and that's one of em).

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Yeah, I saw the singularity bomb and thought... Wow. I don't much care for it, since you can't add it to your weapons cache, and that finding em is near impossible. MOAB's attached to a given vehicle also makes for a good time. :)

A couple of little tips I've found:

Arc Welder - conserving ammo. Zap 'em, then smack 'em. It only takes a tiny blast to stun them, and if there's more than one then switch yto your hammer for the smacking!

Open back trucks and transporting people - be careful not to bump them too hard! I was rescuing people from a House Arrest when a crater in Badlands made the truck bounce violently. One of the two colonists came flying out and landed with a bit of a thud, killing him!
