For those who are interested, the signup for the DDO beta has started if you want a chance to get it.

So far the game seems to be shaping up well and one of its strong points will be focusing on quests instead of grinding. Unlike the majority of all RPG like games that focus on monster killing. DDO will be on exploring and finishing quests. After a quest has been completed, then and only then will you be rewareded with exp.
How well that idea works... especially for those who are short on time or get disconnected periodically, remains to be seen. Its a kewl Idea to squash leveling tredmills at least.

I'm actually not opposed to levelling treadmills as much as I am grinding tens of thousands of mobs just so I can use a flamethrower and throw grenades (you know what I'm talking about). 3rd edition D&D practically is a treadmill compared to 2e anyway.
Only misgiving I have? Its going to be in Eberron. Mayhaps a good way to generate interest in the setting.
