Since BlueFlames saw fit to report on his D&D goings-on, I guess I better chime in with mine. The game I am Gamemaster for is Hackmaster, essentially 1st/2nd edition D&D with some customization. Here is the summary of the first adventure, more to follow.

The four friends/compatriots of Nocturnus (Dwarven Warrior), Gral de Gril (Grunge Elf Ranger), Wylae Coyotae (Gnomeling Thief) and Bartin Talleywhacker (Dwarven Warrior/Cleric of Benyar) enter the town of Hangnail after 2 years of pitched fighting in the Fangaerian army with the Southern Orc League. With a tenuous truce called between the orcs and Fangaerie and her allies, the heroes arrived in Hangnail and bid goodbye to their Commander Jomir Short Stack, who commanded their strike force in the wars. Arriving in Hangnail, they wasted no time in collecting their back-pay, though this was not without incident. Bartin learned his former wife was looking for him, Wylae received a death threat from her brother (nothing new), Nocternus received a mysterious metal cube, and Gral was informed that his wages had been garnished by a Baron Tofres Bean in payment for back taxes his family owed. Gral was further dismayed to learn that his Grunge Elf parents, former nobles of the Croagj-Parseil tribe (translated in common means Drow Punchers) had lost their tanning business and home due to failure to pay back taxes. Adding further dishonor, the tax collector had been a pixie-fairy!

After appropriately finding an inn in which to blow some of their coin, the party struck up a friendship with Basto, the Half-orc proprietor of the Glowing Beautiful Knight. Basto, suitably impressed by Grauls consumption of Gut Bruiser ale, informed the party as to some possible work. In the years of the war, most of the Fangaerie militia assigned to patrol the countrys interior was reassigned to the front. As a result, lawlessness has pervaded the roads, and monsters and bandits prey upon the unwary. The next morning, the heroes awake and begin looking for employ. While asking around town, they happen to come across an old man selling a treasure map that he says leads to a fabulous treasure in the gnome protectorates. While refusing to pay the 100 gp the geezer demanded for the map, the party decides its worth a look at. Nocturnus and Graul create a diversion by sucker punching a half-ogre and his half-elf buddy who were also in-line to collect back pay for their military endeavors. The ensuing brawl allowed a sneaky Wylae to snatch the map from the old man and escape unnoticed while the town guard attempted to subdue the raging half-ogre from tearing off Nocternus head. The party then found employ as escort guards for Eidor Slattery, a merchant transporting his goods to the town of Plebar to the south-east. After resupplying, the group head off.
