Apparently every single person who has signed up for the testing program before today will be invited to the huge beta weekend which BioWare are having later this month.
So for those of you who still haven't had a chance to see the game for yourself and still want to before launch - your wait is almost over ;D

For anyone who didn't sign up for the beta but still fancies trying it check this link for more info.

I think I'll give this a miss since I've already made my mind up in terms of actually buying the game and I did my little part in helping to test and provide feedback when I was properly invited last year. Hope those of you who get ingame are as impressed though ;)

I got one..... thought it may have been a guild invite thingy.

Dependent upon the weekend I may have a look and play Republic (if possible).
I have a sneaking feeling this may be a large scale stress test weekend,
but who cares......

Aye big stress test. I expect their servers will be up and down during this but that'll help em prepare for launch so all is good.

Mmmm...attempted to d/l the beta client but it wont fit in the paltry 27gigs I've got open on the drive.
May set up another external (if I can be bothered to find one in closet caer bannog and reformat it) and give it another go.
Big beta.

Seems like fun, but will be gone in China and Hong Kong starting next weekend. Just as well, leaves the game brand new for when the head-start begins.

Big beta.
I believe Zeph indicated that the client will be about 25GB in size for retail, so it's likely not just going to be an issue for beta. Very large for an MMO, based upon previous experience - but I'm guessing the majority of that is down to the voiceovers.

If there's anyone here who wants to try the game out but hadn't signed up for beta before Nov 11th and as such received an email a few days ago RPS are giving away 12,000 keys here. If you received the "Your account has been selected to participate in an upcoming Beta Weekend Test" mail the tester page will update with download info a few days before the planned weekend and you do not need a key. - There's only 2 weeks of Nov left, my guess is that it'll be the weekend of 26-27th. :)

Fingers crossed! :D

Also those of you were were invited to this weekend test just gone (Mech & Gyouza + anyone else). You'll get to keep your character for this big one. :)

New build was released this morning, should patch any installs of the previous build, but it's a 20Gb patch :)

Stephen Reid has confirmed that next weekend should be the big everyone in weekend beta.

Not sure you can call it a patch if it's 4/5 the size of the whole install

The upcoming beta weekend should have appeared on each of your accounts now. If you go here and login you should be able to accept and start downloading the client. :thumb:

Still not sure whether I'll play this weekend, was mainly downloading for Ava and just incase we can use the same client for early access. If I do though I'll be leaving the Sith classes untouched and go with either of the Jedi classes since I've already tested the other two. :)
Anyway my client appears to have stopped patching a fresh install now ~ 18.5gb. Not too bad!

Okay, client downloaded and ready to rock!!

Also thanks to MS I accepted/ confirmed for the Test before I got my email requesting me to confirm participation :weird:

I'm seriously considering the Smuggler for this test as I am interested in seeing this cover mechanic first hand.

Really cannot wait for the weekend, unfortunately I have so much work to do before hand.
O well at least I will be busy.

EDIT: also the first one in, shout which server.

Not going to be playing the beta, but I hope you guys have fun this weekend :)

Any Republic impressions would be nice afterwards :D

Eek

If you start the launcher with your username/ password and answer the security question
it should auto patch/dl the game, I had about 18Gb and it took about 12 hours.

If you ran "SWTOR_setup" that should install the launcher for you. Run the launcher and login and at the very bottom of the window it should show a patching progress bar. Leave that going overnight or whatever and once it's done you're good to go. (You should be able to pause/resume too if needed). The play button will be greyed out for the time being but it'll be clickable on either fri/sat depending when you've been told your access will begin. :thumb:

Ok I am currently playing on the European Server Gnawers Roost. (PvP)

Started with a Smuggler, cover mechanic is interesting, but with so many peeps around slightly annoying,
so I rolled a Trooper instead.... very nice.

Toons name is Wulfe so look me up if you hit that server.

Must say I am going to be glad when release comes and I don't have to listen to the whining beta testers who are
only playing because it is free, but don't understand the concept of stress testing loading etc ..... argh!!!!
