IRC Guide

What is IRC? -- Written by SSX-MS

IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It was originally written by Jarkko Oikarinen in 1988. Since starting in Finland, it has been used in over 60 countries around the world. IRC is a multi-user chat system, where people meet on "channels" (rooms, virtual places, usually with a certain topic of conversation) to talk in groups, or privately. There is no restriction to the number of people that can participate in a given discussion, or the number of channels that can be formed on IRC.

Downloading and Installing mIRC

1. Download the latest version of mIRC which can be found here.
2. Install mIRC to what ever directory you want...
3. Download NoNameScript - This is just an addon for mIRC. You can download it from here. (Make sure you download the full version if this is the first time you have used irc)
4. Install NoNameScript to the exact same location that you installed mIRC to.

Configuring your mIRC client

1. Goto Tools > Options > Connect. Here type in your name & email and what you want your nickname to be on IRC.
2. Now goto the servers part in the options menu. Click "Add". Now type in the following info:

3. Still in the options menu, now goto "Options". Make sure "Connect on Startup" and "Reconnect on disconnection" are both ticked. Now click on the "Perform" button.
4. In the perform menu, click "Add" and then select the server that you just created which should be under "MGT" unless you named it as something else. Now add the line "/join #ssx" in the MGT perform command as shown in the below screenshot:

5. Now goto the "NoNameScript" menu and select "Setup" > "Favorite Nets".
6. Select "MGT" from the list of available networks and add it to your list of Favorite networks by clicking the arrow. Now type in the same name, email and nicknames in the box below as you did at the beginning. The screen should look something like this:

Your mIRC client should now be ready to auto connect to the SSX server each time you open it. Close your client and re-launch it.
